First few weeks at home

I am new to this so please hang in there.

I returned home from my year in Iraq at the end of March 2005. This time was filled with so many things to do and so many things I wanted to do. Nobody could have been happier to see their family than I was. After I had a few days off and we had to report back to work, I found that it was hard to talk to people about almost anything. The guys from my unit were great but my family and civillian friends just didn't understand. Everybody that wasn't there asked so many questions and wanted to see pictures but after talking for a couple of minutes I could tell that they had lost interest and wanted to talk about all of the things that they were doing over the past year. I just don't think that they knew how to relate to what I was talking about and didn't want to deal with it. I don't know if it was because we had over 100 people all crammed in to a large bay or what but now that I am home, I really don't want to see that many people or talk on the phone with friends like I would before. I love my family with all of my heart but I even need more time away from my wife and son. I hope this will pass.......
